July 2022

Happy July!!

Summer is officially in full-swing, between road trips, family vacations, kids' camps and sports, and summer classes, Hannah and I are certainly keeping busy! But, as always we are both spending much of our free time reading! Everybody loves a great summer/beach read however, my idea of a beach read is VERY different from Hannah's.

When I'm laying on the beach, enjoying the sunshine and ocean, I reach for a light and fun mystery book. So I'm putting together a top five 'Beach Mysteries' booklist which you can check out on The Book War. Hannah, on the other hand, prefers a juicy romance so she's compiling a list of 'Beach Romances.' Be sure to check them out before your next beach/summer vacation or wait for us to read and share our thoughts during July's Biblio Talks on these two books! Either way, enjoy getting lost in a good book!

Hannah's Beach Reads

It is a light love story indeed that gets me through these hectic summer months. Every year I think it will be such a laid back chill summer...it never is, so in the midst of the chaos, I turn to good modern romances to get me through. Thus, my July pick is, A Pho Love Story by Loan Le. It sounds like a contemporary enemy to lover, family feud, (Romeo & Juliet) adaptation. Here's to hoping they don't poison each other in the end.

Haddi's Beach Reads

As will come as no surprise if you have been following us a bit, Haddi is not a reader of the modern romance. In her crazy months of travel and teaching she leans on the light and fun mystery novel to keep her reading and happily diverted. So for her July themed Beach Read, she has chosen, The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osmann. It is set in a local retirement home where four folks end up joining forces to solve a local murder.
